April Meeting

At this month’s meeting we will discuss some changes at the management level, and WZZ’s commitment to brew for the Hoppy Hour event at this year’s NCHF.
The president and treasurer have decided that the club will pay for a 5-gallon batch of beer ingredients if you will make it for that event. Anything left over will be used in the club booth on Saturday. We will be among several other clubs displaying their/our brewing prowess. I think we are honored by the invitation to participate at this level.
On a related note, we got the NCHF board to agree to a guaranteed ticket for each person who brews a batch of beer for Hoppy Hour; not a free ticket, but a guaranteed ticket (remember the big cluster flap over getting tickets last year?). The catch?…. We get 10 (ten) tickets guaranteed for that job.
These tickets will be for members in good standing (dues paid) by the end of this month’s meeting.
Those not brewing for Hoppy Hour specifically will have to scramble for tickets like everyone else.
Oh, and by the way the April meeting will be 6:00 P.M. at the Reno Homebrewer on Saturday, April 19th. (2335 Dickerson Rd., Reno 329-2537)  (map below, just in case you’re new and would like to visit)
BBQ will be available for grilling. (Bring your own meat or veggies.)
By the way, does anyone remember what the theme is for this year’s NCHF?
The May WZZ Meeting will be at Jason Hobbs House!

Want to Save NHC Shipping Costs?

I’m (Kirk) driving to Sacramento Saturday, March 15th.  I’m hauling my first round NHC entries and will transport yours too if you want.  No charge, as I need to make the drive anyway.

I’ll be at Rob’s Shop Friday afternoon until closing, March 14th.  So bring your entries then (or before), and we’ll pack them up snugly for travel on Saturday, the 15th, and I’ll deliver them to Brew Ferment Distill that day (the drop-off window is March 10-17).

Cheers

Anybody Enter the NHC?

Hey, did anyone out there get entered into the National Homebrewing Contest?

I entered for the first time this year, and it went pretty smooth.  I entered three brews, which I’m not going to say what styles they were, because I’m going to enter the same ones into the Great Basin Brew-Off, and don’t want to show my hand.

The new system they are using seems to work really well.  Did you know that the software is the same as what we use?  Just beefed up for the huge size of the contest, but designed by the same person, Geoff Humphries, of BrewCompetition.com.  That guy has helped a lot of us get competitions off the ground.

Anyway, feel free to comment, and let us know if you got through with any entries.
